“The food is exquisite, possibly because the head chef is formerly of The Ritz in London, but anyway the attention to detail is incredible, the flavours amazing, the service good, and the prices are too low.

Well worth a visit, I truly do believe that this is the best restaurant in Keighley.”

“I have been to Roland’s a few times with both Family and friends, and have not been let down once! Its Fine dining at its best but without the price tag. I like the fact that the menu changes weekly. The experience of the chef shows in abundance when he can still offer a creative and imaginative menu which blows you away – week in – week out! Roland’s service is second to none, making sure you have what you want and goes above and beyond to make sure you know the menu before ordering. A great selection of wine is also on offer. The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxed. Its not just a meal out, its an experience which i like the most! No doubt ill be back again soon! Thanks T.L”

“When you think of Keighley, you do not automatically think of fine dining. However, Rolands of Utley is steadily changing this view. The quality of the food is above and beyond any other restaurant in the area, both in taste and presentation. There is a great ambiance in the restaurant, and with an open plan kitchen, having the chance to see the chefs preparing the food just adds to the whole experience.

Roland himself takes care of each customer as if he has known them for years, and is clearly extremely passionate about the menu, something that is quite rare from front of house when dining in other establishments.
With a menu that changes very regularly, repeat visits to Rolands are a must! Every second thursday of the month is jazz night, where a live jazz band plays in the cellar. It is a popular event, understandably, at £5 per head which includes a dish of the day. Easily the best restaurant in Keighley.

“Great value £20 for 3 courses of imaginative food. The menu changes frequently. The wine is also very good bur best of all REAL ALE. I would like the option of paying say £30 or £35 to have larger portions, but i`m just greedy. Well worth a try.”

“Roland’s is an exceptionally good restaurant, with good service, creative food and a nice ambience. It will not suit all tastes and budgets but it shouldn’t have to appeal to the lowest common denomator. My wife and I paid our second visit to sample their Valentines meal, and certainly were not disappointed.

We are not starved of decent places to eat here in the Aire Valley but Roland’s has taken dining in the area to a new level. His ‘Menu formula – which is essentially Table d Hotel, with a selection of 3 choices for each of the 3 courses priced at £25. The Valentine meal was clearly something else, lots of Red, flowers and music made for a very romantic ambience – my wife presence topped it.

I share the host’s love of Jazz but personally I would have gone for Barry White or Jazz vocalists for that additional touch of romance. We were given a selection of nibbles to share – tiny tartlets and bread dips, and what we thought was a fried cube of swede. Then pumpkin and orange or pea and ham soup, both were absolutely faultless in taste and consistency. A selection of dainty and appetising hot and cold starters to share , a Pork terrine , Spinach and Ricotta tartlets and Beignets , For our main course we both chose the fillet of sea bass with a creamy lemon sauce. Again taste and presentation impeccable. The service was friendly and warm, the host obliged to help out as there were a number of “the girls at Uni”. He even invested a few minutes to give us a whistle stop tour of his gastronomic journey to Utley , and its lack of pretensions suggest a lot about the man.Cooking from a very young age , a mum in Industrial catering ( how many chefs could overcome our snobbery to admit such..!)

Arriving here via at his location on the Keighley road via Newcastle, Calais, and Northampton – We were given a sorbet, which for me was the only disappointment of the night, let down by its crystal texture rather than taste. Desert, again was a sharing experience, which my wife observed, was a charming theme for the occasion. Each one of them special in its own right. The valentine package came at £30 a head plus wine , and with a former Ritz Chef producing food of this quality it was value for money.

In these harsh economic times restaurants have to work hard even to survive, and whilst its location (perfect walking distance for us…) might seem an odd choice Roland is pulling out all the stops to make it work. Theme nights built around Jazz, Italian and Indian food, flower making and they do a mean breakfast as well, and a fantastic homemade marmalade. The bulk of the 50-60 covers can be accommodated in the cellar seating with its own bar. The Twig on a board – art did nothing for us, but the food, service and ambience more than made this a quality dining experience. He appears a man on a mission and I hope he is here to stay, you wont be disappointed. RnB. Steeton”

“We’ve been to Roland’s on numerous occasions, either as a two or with a larger group and have always been delighted.
The food is imaginative and beautifully presented. Service is also very good even when the restaurant is full. Matters are carefully overseen by Roland himself and he usually walks you through the menu.

At £20 per head for three courses it’s excellent value. Portions are smallish but that means you can enjoy the full meal without that bloated feeling. Wines are lovely too and also reasonably priced. In short I can’t recommend Rolands highly enough!”
